Vi Maris award goes to Henry Jeffrey
The OEE industry award Vi Maris (Force of the sea) recognises excellence in the ocean energy industry. The award acknowledges individuals or organisations who have made an outstanding contribution to the ocean energy sector.
Presented during Ocean Energy Europe 2024 Conference & Exhibition in Aviemore, the winner is selected by a subcommittee of the Ocean Energy Europe board, who have extensive experience of the sector and who are not affiliated to a particular company.
Henry has considerable experience in the marine renewables sector and as well as the Head of Strategy and Internationalisation for Wave Energy Scotland, Henry is also a Professor at the University of Edinburgh and Head of the School of Engineering's Policy and Innovation Group.
Commenting on the win, Henry said:
"I feel both honoured and humbled to receive the Vi Maris award, here in my home country and in a part of Scotland that I'm so very fond of. I have worked in the ocean energy sector for over 25 years and despite many rises and falls, I am delighted that we are now very firmly in the position of accelerating from innovation to commercialisation and ready to play our role in Europe’s Net Zero goals."
